Volunteer with us: Intercessor

Those who lead intercessions pray on behalf of the church congregation during our church services. Services consist of different parts (sung worship, confession, teaching, thanksgiving, affirming our faith, notices etc.) and intercessions are a chance to bring our requests for the world, our nation, the church and ourselves, to God.

Intercessions are not a chance for people to promote their own agendas or personal interests, but lead us all in prayer, which requires some thought about prayers that everyone can reasonably say ‘Amen’ to! Intercession leaders will have initial training when they join the team with an experienced member of the team and we would encourage people to get in touch to request follow up informal training one-to-one with members of the team or clergy.

Intercessors can set their own availability on the rota, although the minimum is usually once every three months, but some do more often.

9.15am and 8am Sunday Services

• Prepare, write and lead intercessions after the sermon and before the eucharist.

• These two morning services tend to take a slightly more formal tone than the 11am or 6pm.
