From the Treasurer…

I am pleased to confirm that PCC formally approved the church’s statutory accounts for 2025 at its meeting on 27th April. Our auditors provided a “true and fair” opinion, which is always welcome news. A big thank you to everyone, particularly the finance team, who support our financial processes throughout the year.

I shall be providing a summary of the accounts and our finances for 2026 in my Treasurer’s presentation at the APCM on 20th May. As my theme, I will be using the church’s verse for the year “unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labour in vain” (Psalm 127:v1). Do come and hear about the key building blocks of our finances and how your financial giving contributes so much to building God’s Kingdom in this place.

This Sunday, 3rd May, will be the second one this year when we will be passing the offertory plate at each service as part of our worship, a time to say thank you for God’s abundant generosity to us. Maybe as we place one of the tokens or cash on the plate we can take a moment to reflect on how the Lord is asking each of us to give of our time, skills and funds. Where is He asking us to contribute or build as being part of the All Saints church family?

Julia Newton

Church News

Bapitsm and Confirmation

We’re hosting our annual service of baptism by full immersion and confirmation on Sunday 28th June at 6pm. We are delighted that the Bishop of Doncaster, Bishop Leah, will be joining us for the first time to lead.

This service is always a highlight in our church calendar, so please do mark the date and begin thinking about who you might invite. If you have completed Alpha, attended our young people’s house party, recently joined the church, or have not yet been confirmed and would like to fully align yourself with our community, we would love to hear from you.

If you are interested to know more or to be a candidate for baptism or confirmation, please speak to the office or a member of the clergy team in the next few weeks (ideally by the mid/end of May).

Thank You to Jo Evans!

We've put together a leaving fund for Jo Evans to thank her for everything she's brought to the team during her time as Operations Manager. If you'd like to contribute towards her leaving gift, any donations would be greatly appreciated. Click the button below to donate online, or drop any cash donations down to the church office.

Christian Aid Week 2026

This year’s appeal (May 10th–16th), is focusing on work in Nairobi, Kenya, where intense poverty means families have a daily struggle to feed their children. With secure jobs hard to find, and most people earning less than a dollar a day to cover school costs, rent and water, providing food for every meal is a relentless problem. But with tools, seeds and specialist training from Christian Aid’s partner, Beacon of Hope, families are learning how to make the most of a small space in the city to grow a steady supply of fresh vegetables to cook or sell. To find out more, visit caid.org.uk. If you would like to help during Christian Aid Week this year, please contact Gillian Coleshill on 07586 378779.

Homestay Opportunity

Akito Hari is a 19-year-old Japanese student hoping to spend part of his summer in the UK to gain overseas experience and improve his English. His father, Pastor Yoshiya, is seeking a Christian homestay family and notes that the family will cover all expenses (food, utilities, accommodation). Akito would be happy to help with household chores and participate in church services, worship, and youth activities. Akito may not spend the whole summer in Sheffield, but if anyone is able to host him for a few weeks, please contact Ian Walker for details: igwalker@hotmail.com Tel: 07585 144 672.

Mission Prayers: Mosaic in the Middle East

The Middle East always seems to be in the news and more than ever at present. We are grateful that, amidst the pain and suffering, there are many working to build hope and reconciliation.

In Gaza and the West Bank, hospitals continue to operate under immense pressure, with shortages of supplies, overstretched staff, and communities facing ongoing insecurity and trauma. Through their partnership with the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem, Mosaic continue to support both Al Ahli Hospital in Gaza and St Luke’s in Nablus, enabling care to continue for those who have nowhere else to turn. In the midst of conflict, the hospital remains a place of care and refuge.

In Jordan, at their Olive Tree Centres, families continue to arrive each week, many having fled conflict and instability. Alongside practical support and skills training, these centres are places where individuals can begin to process trauma, rebuild a sense of safety, and rediscover hope within a supportive community.
