Volunteer with us: Flower Arranging
The Flower Team is a small, friendly group of volunteers who arrange flowers for the church each week.
Team members take it in turns, either individually or in pairs, to create the pedestal and chapel arrangements. Jeanette Jackson coordinates donations for flowers from members of the congregation, and arrangers buy flowers from suppliers of their choice, including supermarkets, florists and flower markets. Foliage is often sourced from our own gardens or the churchyard.
The commitment is currently around once a month, although there is flexibility for those who would like to do more or less. Flowers are usually arranged on a Thursday or Friday morning and take a couple of hours.
Training and support are provided for anyone new to flower arranging, typically by working alongside an experienced team member. No previous experience is needed, all equipment is supplied, and it is a wonderful way to help make the church look beautiful.
At Christmas and Easter, the whole team works together on several larger displays, including the arch over the church door. Similar arches are also created for Harvest and Remembrance services.
The team is also working towards more sustainable flower arranging practices, an ongoing and exciting project.
