Prior to theological studies in London, Simon lived in Sheffield for 10 years. During that time he worked for a church, served in university mission across Yorkshire, trained as a Secondary School teacher, and taught Religious Studies, Philosophy, and History.

He has enjoyed playing football and rugby over the years, but now prefers the tamer options of golf and running. 

Simon is married to Rebecca, and they have a young daughter Rosanna.
